Privacy Policy

In short
- Parlor has no accounts. Your notebook, conversations and settings are stored on your iPhone.
- When you use an AI feature, what you write goes through our server to OpenAI or Anthropic to produce a response. Parlor asks your permission before it sends anything to them, and you can withdraw that permission in Settings.
- Some things you save, such as highlights, practice answers and saved ideas, are kept on our server so the app can show them again. You can export or delete them from the app at any time.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps and websites. Parlor contains no analytics or advertising software.
- Parlor is for people aged 13 and older.
Who we are
Parlor AI (“Parlor”) is an iPhone app made by Nevel Trade Inc, a Florida corporation in the United States (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data Parlor handles, why, who receives it, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. For questions or requests, email [email protected].
Parlor is currently in testing and is not yet available on the App Store. This policy applies to the app and its server.
This website sets no cookies of its own and has no analytics, advertising or forms. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes visitors’ IP addresses to protect the site and may set a strictly necessary security cookie. The home page loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts load.
What stays on your iPhone
Parlor stores these only on your device: your notebook (lecture notes, imported study material, original PDFs and photos you add, practice questions, answers and feedback), conversations about books, reading progress, drafts and settings. They are not synced to other devices or to iCloud. Parlor also keeps a random installation key in your device’s Keychain; it identifies your installation to our server and never leaves your device except to prove that installation’s requests are yours.
AI features: what is sent, and to whom
Parlor’s AI features need to send your text to an AI provider to produce a response. Before any of your content is sent to an AI provider, Parlor asks for your permission. If you decline, reading books, highlights, your notebook and your saved work keep working; the AI features stay off until you turn them on in Settings → Privacy. You can withdraw permission there at any time; it stops future sending but cannot recall what was already sent.

Lecture practice and Improve Formulas also ask each time, unless you choose “Don’t Ask Again”; you can turn those confirmations back on in Settings → Privacy. The server also has a notes-checking function that would send a lecture section to OpenAI; the current app does not use it, and it would be covered by the same permission. Features that use only public-domain book text, such as chapter prompts and glossaries, send none of your content.
OpenAI and Anthropic process this data to provide their service to us. Under their terms for business API use, as published when this policy was written, they do not use it to train their models by default, and they keep API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days, for example to monitor abuse, unless the law requires longer. We cannot delete data they hold. See OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s privacy policies.
Support check. Before your own words in a discussion or a practice answer are sent for a response, Parlor’s server and two OpenAI services, its moderation service and a small AI model, check them for signs that you may intend to harm yourself. If one of them finds such signs, Parlor sends nothing for feedback and shows you where to find help instead; you can choose to continue if the text was about your coursework. If a feedback reply turns out to be a message of concern rather than feedback, Parlor shows you where to find help, and the reply is never saved as practice. Parlor keeps only counts of how often these things happen, never what you wrote.
AI responses can be wrong. Feedback on your answers is produced automatically and is not a grade from a teacher.
What our server keeps
Our server runs on Fly.io in the United States. It keeps the following, linked to your installation rather than to your name. Your lecture notes are not stored on our server; they are sent only to produce each response.

Our server does not store audio, your notebook, your book conversations or your page images. We only use this data to provide and improve Parlor. We do not sell it or share it for advertising.
Speech
When you speak to Parlor, Apple’s speech recognition turns your voice into text. Depending on your iPhone and settings, this happens on the device or through Apple’s speech service, under Apple’s privacy policy. Parlor never receives your audio; it receives the text only when you send it.
Your choices and rights
- Export: Settings → Data Controls exports the data on your iPhone and the data our server keeps for your installation.
- Delete: Settings → Data Controls deletes your data on our server and clears it from your iPhone. Deleting the app removes the data on your iPhone but not on our server, so use Data Controls first.
- AI permission: Settings → Privacy.
- By email: write to [email protected] to ask about, correct or delete your data. Because Parlor has no accounts, we may need a detail from your app, such as an exported file, to find your records.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to its use. Contact us to exercise them; we will not treat you differently for doing so.
After deletion, our server keeps only a record that the installation was deleted, so that delayed requests cannot recreate your data. Backups kept by our hosting provider may still contain deleted data for a limited time until they expire.
Age
Parlor is for people aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has used Parlor, email us and we will delete the related data.
Security
Data between the app and our server travels over encrypted connections. Each installation proves its requests with a key kept in the device’s Keychain. Our server records exclude the content of your requests from its logs. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where data is processed
Our server is in the United States, and our AI providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you use Parlor from outside the United States, your data is transferred there.
Changes
We will update this page when Parlor’s handling of data changes, and change the date above. If a change affects what is sent to AI providers or who receives it, Parlor will ask for your permission again before sending anything.
